These images show the shells in an order that reveals their base- and front-view profiles to aid in "seeing" the shells' shapes changing from more inflated to nearly cylindrical, in width and/or height. The lowest values occur in shells with heavily callussed margins and/or vaulted dorsums, while the higher values indicate shells which are more cylindrical, drawn-out and/or slender.
The graph (in which both axes are linear) shows the manner in which the values of "Q" are distributed in this sample of almost 880 shells.
